Tazı Canyon, Selge and Adam Rocks from Alanya: A November Mountain Day

Planning a Tazı Canyon and Selge day from Alanya in November? See what the route covers, how the mountain weather feels, what to wear and who it suits best.

When the beach season winds down, the Taurus Mountains behind the coast become one of the best places to spend a day. The trip to Tazı Canyon, the ancient city of Selge and the Adam Rocks combines dramatic views, a little history and fresh mountain air, and November is a very comfortable month for it: the summer heat is gone, the light is clear and the roads are quieter. Our Tazı Canyon, Selge and Adam Rocks day trip from Alanya takes care of the long mountain drive, so you can simply enjoy the scenery.

What you will see

  • Tazı Canyon (Greyhound Canyon): a deep, narrow gorge near the village of Ağaçlı. Its name comes from a rock outline that locals say looks like the head of a greyhound. The viewing points above the edge are the highlight of the day.
  • Köprülü Canyon area: the road follows the turquoise Köprüçay river and passes the old Roman Oluk Bridge, still standing after many centuries.
  • Selge: a Pisidian and Roman city set high in the mountains, at around 1,000 metres. The theatre is the best-preserved part, and today village houses stand among the ancient stones.
  • Adam Rocks: tall, eroded rock pillars that seem to stand like silent figures on the hillside, a favourite stop for photos.

How the day works

Tazı Canyon lies roughly two to two and a half hours by road from Alanya, depending on your hotel, so it is a full-day outing with an early start. The route goes inland through Manavgat and Beşkonak, then climbs into the mountains. Exact pick-up times, inclusions and the current price are shown on the booking page.

November weather and what to wear

Up in the mountains it is noticeably cooler than on the coast, especially in the morning and late afternoon, and a shower is always possible at this time of year. We recommend:

  • comfortable walking shoes with good grip (paths near the canyon edge can be rocky),
  • layers: a T-shirt plus a warm sweater or light jacket,
  • a small rain jacket or umbrella,
  • a fully charged phone or camera, as the canyon views are wide and impressive.

Who is it for?

This trip suits couples, friends and families with children who are happy to spend time in a vehicle. The walking is short and easy, but at the viewpoints children should always stay close to an adult. If you enjoy nature, photography or ancient sites more than crowded beaches, this is one of the most rewarding days you can have around Alanya in autumn.
