Scuba Diving in Alanya in November: A Beginner's Guide to Late-Season Dives

Thinking of a first dive in Alanya in November? Learn how warm the sea still is, how a beginner dive day works, what to bring and who should skip it.

Most people imagine scuba diving as a summer activity, but in Alanya the sea keeps its warmth long after the beach crowds have gone. If you have always wanted to try diving, a calm November day can be a very good moment to take your first breath underwater. Our Alanya Scuba Diving for Beginners tour is designed for exactly this: two guided dives, lunch on board and hotel pick-up, with no previous experience needed.

Is the sea still warm enough?

The Mediterranean cools down slowly. In early and mid November the water around Alanya is usually still around 22–23 °C, which is warmer than many European seas in high summer. On the surface the air can feel fresh in the morning and after a shower, so the moment you get out of the water matters more than the dive itself. A wetsuit keeps you comfortable underneath, and a warm layer on deck does the rest.

How a beginner dive day works

  • Briefing: before anyone gets wet, the instructor explains the equipment, the basic hand signals and how to equalise the pressure in your ears.
  • First steps: you start in shallow water, getting used to breathing through the regulator.
  • The dives: an instructor stays close to you the whole time, controls your depth and leads the way.
  • Between dives: lunch on the boat, time to warm up and sunbathe if the sun is out.

The exact schedule, what is included and the current price are shown on the booking page.

Why autumn can be better than summer

With fewer boats on the water, the dive sites are quieter and groups are often smaller. The sea is frequently calm and clear after the summer season, and the softer sunshine makes the day on deck far more pleasant than in the heat of August.

What to bring

  • Swimwear worn under your clothes and a towel
  • A warm sweater or windproof jacket for the boat
  • Sun cream and sunglasses – the November sun is still strong
  • A dry bag for your phone and valuables

Who should think twice

Diving is not a good idea if you have a cold, blocked sinuses or ear problems, because equalising becomes difficult. Tell the dive team about any health conditions before the trip; age and health requirements are listed on the tour page. Also keep your flight in mind: instructors generally advise not to fly for at least 24 hours after diving, so do not plan your dive for the last day of your holiday.

If you want to see a completely different side of Alanya before the winter, a beginner dive is one of the most memorable ways to do it.
